Biography

Shannon van Tol majored in Finance and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She received her law degree, Cum Laude, from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1995.

Ms. van Tol concentrates her practice in the areas of business, commercial and complex litigation. She assists businesses, financial institutions and individuals with a wide range of legal issues, both transactional and litigation. Her diverse experience includes representing clients in a variety of litigation in state and federal courts ranging from simple collection matters to complex commercial litigation, property owner association disputes, and construction litigation. She has also served as General Counsel for a community bank and has experience advising clients with respect to business formations and dissolutions, corporate governance, loan transactions and other contract negotiations. She completed appellate court judicial clerkships with Judge Joseph M. Tipton and Judge Norma McGee Ogle on the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals and has taught pretrial litigation classes at the University of Tennessee College of Law as an adjunct professor.
